N-Spired's "Stop Bullying" Initiative

Dear Youth Advocate & Concerned Citizen,

Over the last several years leaders and concerned community members rallied across the United Stated to ensure that NO CHILD would be “left behind” and that ALL CHILDREN would have access to quality education. CHANGE HAD COME and children of America received what many had believed to be one of their FUNDAMENTAL CIVIL RIGHTS.

Taking the stage, other leaders and concerned community members stepped forward and challenged the fast food industry and our societal values regarding nutrition, OBESITY and the failing health of our children. AMERICA was on the move and our children were now void of the barriers and injustices that warped their pathway to becoming healthy, educated, empowered and resourceful contributing members of society, right? NO!

Another beast has surfaced and is perhaps the most damaging as it silently slips through the cracks of our radars. Its effect is so devastating that not only can it cause children to turn against their peers and those that have struggled to grant them access to a better future, but it can cause them to GIVE UP and turn against themselves. How do we name this monster so that we can bring it to the forefront of America’s attention and detach its devouring claws? We name it by its action, BULLYING.

The effect of bullying extends long past the school years and continues to manifest throughout the adults years. Individuals who have been bullied often have health problems, low self-esteem, are depressed, become suicidal and often achieve poor grades in their school years. Jenney Cheever in her online article “Important Facts on Bullying” includes the following as facts that we should know about bullying:

  • Contrary to the common belief that bullies are insecure, studies have shown that bullies tend to have high self-esteem and little trouble making friends. They are typically viewed as cool by their peers.
  • Both bullies and their victims are more likely to drop out of school as well as engage in criminal activity.
  • A lack of adult supervision greatly increases a child's chances of becoming a bully.
  •  Studies have shown that adults who were bullied in their youth tend to be more depressed than those who were not bullied.
  •  Bullying can result in anxiety, depression, behavior problems and poor academic performance.

This is just a snippet; the effects contributed to those who bully and/or have been bullied are numerous. Bullying MUST stop and together through educational efforts and speaking out, we can bring CHANGE and END it NOW, TOGETHER!

So, let me share what N-Spired Productions has begun to bring awareness and education worldwide to help STOP BULLYING and its DEVASTATING EFFECTS. Birthed out of our “America’s Finest Young Authors” project (see attached info), we have launched a “STOP BULLYING” AWARENESS & EMPOWERMENT CAMPAIGN that educates, entertains and empowers Elementary through High School aged youth (K – 12th grades).

Awareness Component 1:

  • National group publishing- This is a project brought forth through collaboration between N-Spired Productions and Educators and Youth Organizations serving Elementary, Junior High, and High School aged youth on the topic of bullying.

Awareness Component 2:

  • Statewide facilitation of workshops, visual productions, and staged productions targeted towards Elementary, Junior High, and High School aged youth on the topic of bullying.

Empowerment Component 3:

  • Statewide facilitation of seminars and workshops that build self-esteem, teach financial stability and societal responsibility to Elementary, Junior High, and High Schools aged youth to position them to be young entrepreneurs, motivators and contributors that can give back to their communities. “Each One Teach One”

The "stop bullying" initiative is underway. Please review our most recent published book on bullying authored by twenty-three 2nd graders from Georgia entitled: Georgia’s Finest Young Authors: Bullying. These 2nd graders did a phenomenal job and have rapidly become great presenters and advocators to “stop bullying”. What N-Spired Productions needs now is increased media visibility as well as project partners, supporters and network advocates to help get the message out. Can we count on your influence to help us educate and empower our youth? We need your support and more importantly, OUR YOUTH NEED YOU. Thank you for your time in reviewing our agenda. We wait to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
